Chapel Restoration Project
Our lovely Georgian chapel is now some 250 years old, but with growing problems with damp, an exposed porch, rotting window frames and a tired interior we are now looking at undertaking some significant restoration work.
Over the years much has been done. Box pews were added in the 1870s, and removed in the 1970s, the uneven floor was then boarded over, resulting in a step trip hazard just by the main door. The original (we think) rear balcony was extended down both sides of the chapel, and with various flooring and seating changes has resulted in a difficult to use and possibly hazardous space. Most recently we have removed the (already secondhand) pipe organ in preparation for the work to the balcony area.
